Keeping up With the Times

Please forgive my absence! I've been a busy little bee around here, its true, wedding season is in full swing! Well there is so much I want to share and images from all our sessions that I can't wait to post but in the mean time I wanted to do a quick blog about our website, www.purephotographyreno.com

Fawn and I use a ridiculously awesome program called Showit to build our website and make it 100% unique! Its amazing, I love it and I'll be a customer of theirs for the rest of my life! They have recently just released an upgrade that allows its users to create mobile websites! This means that everyone who surfs the internet with their mobile device can now swing by our site! YAY!
Its true and I don't make any claims other wise, I am an iPhone addict! I'm constantly surfing the web, replying to e-mails, texting (playing Words with Friends, Tiffany_D is my name if you want to play a game!) and watching You tube! Its perfect, I use it for business and I use it for entertainment! I'm so excited that our website is now available for all the other iPhone/Smart phone addicts out there! Here are a few snapshots of the mobile site from my phone...

Fall in Love Workshop

Last Friday I made a trip to southern California to attend Cameron Ingalls "Fall in Love Workshop"! The whole weekend was truly a growing, learning and completely outside my comfort zone experience...it was beyond amazing! This was the first time I traveled by myself, so I was excited/nervous about it but I found traveling alone can be a fun adventure and rocking out in the car singing Taylor Swift songs without fear of judgment from others is pretty darn fun!

I met so many wonderful people and was so inspired by Cameron and guest speaker Jose Villa that it did take me a few days of marinating in the whole event for everything to sink in! Cameron's heart and passion for photography/people/love is contagious and I walked away from the whole weekend wanting to go shoot my next engagement session, call up my couples and chat about their love and lives and submerse myself into my community utilizing my gifts as a photographer! I felt inspired and energized! Also, I can't really express how awesome it was to see first hand how Jose directs and engages people while shooting! I was pretty much in awe at his direction and how he helped the couple we were photographing completely be themselves in front of the camera! I really could go on and on about the whole weekend but I'll refrain, instead here are some of the images I took and the amazing vendors that helped make this event so great!

I took this from the plane Friday morning as it was leaving Reno, there is Mt. Rose and Lake Tahoe. It's neat how Mt Rose is actually light up with Rosy light from the sunrise!

I also made a little trip to Avila Beach where my Hubby and I stayed when we visited San Luis Obispo

In Black and White

A week or some ago I got together with some other fabulous local photographers for a creative session! These creative sessions are just a time for us to come together take pictures, laugh and share ideas with one another! I really am so thankful for the friendships i've developed and I'm always amazed at all of their creativity! They continually inspire me!
I went into this shoot wanting to do something different and creative so I made it a goal to shoot only Black and White in camera. I am super pleased with the outcome, these images have still been adjusted for contrast and sharpness but I LOVE how bold and dramatic they are! Our fabulous model Brittni Grider braved the snowy elements in heels and dresses without a single complaint! She is amazing!
The nice thing about being out in the snow was the light reflecting off of everything which helped make these images so bright! Enjoy and Happy Monday!

Inspiration

I’ve mentioned before that in college I majored in English Literature and even though my profession doesn’t center on English Lit. It is something that inspires me and has actually helped my creativity in how I take photos and process them.

One of my favorite literary authors is Jane Austen.
Jane Austen

It must come as no surprise, a girl who loves Jane Austen, but long before the fanfare and trendy-ness of it all I would snuggle up under my covers reading “Sense and Sensibility”, “Emma” or “Pride and Prejudice”. I delighted in the characters wit and intelligence, especially with the heroine of the story! Austen’s female characters were so diverse but they were all opinionated! Some charming, some annoying and some ridiculous but all strong and firm in their beliefs!

Now jump from the written word to the big screen and I have seen almost every Jane Austen book turned movie/mini series. I have a lot of favorites and with the movies I love, it’s the coloring that really inspires! With Austen era films, its the soft skin, the pinkish/purple tones, slightly muted colors and warm candle light glow that I adore!

When I go out to shoot a wedding or engagement session its those things I keep in the back of my mind, the softness and wit of the heroine's and the strength and passion of the men in their lives. Although the trends have changed and we no longer wear flowy gowns and top hats, every love story is timeless and classic!
We love to help tell those stories with our cameras...
